33rd Iran Handwoven Carpet Exhibition Opens; Seven Distinguished Carpet Industry Veterans Honored

The 33rd Iran Handwoven Carpet Exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Mofteh, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade for Commercial Affairs; Mr. Tavassoli, Member of Parliament representing Kabudarahang and Bahar; Mr. Abbaspour, Vice Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Industries and Mines; as well as national officials, private-sector representatives and veterans of Iran’s handwoven carpet industry.

During the opening ceremony, speakers emphasized the strategic role of handwoven carpets in preserving and strengthening Iran’s national identity, expanding non-oil exports and creating employment opportunities. Seven distinguished veterans and leading figures in Iran’s handwoven carpet art and industry were also honored with commemorative plaques and statues in recognition of their valuable contributions to preserving, revitalizing and developing this important cultural heritage.

The honorees were:

Master Mohammad-Hossein Saati Vahid — veteran in carpet repair and restoration, Hamadan Province

Ms. Masoumeh Nokouei Fadafan — veteran in carpet weaving and production, Razavi Khorasan Province

Master Seyed Jalal Nasri — veteran in carpet trade and commerce, Tehran Province

Master Hedayatollah Salari — veteran in carpet design and pattern-making, East Azerbaijan Province

Master Esmail Farhadian — veteran in carpet trade and export development, Tehran Province

Master Mohammad Sabbaghi Bidgoli — veteran in traditional and authentic dyeing, Isfahan Province

Master Ahmad Zahed — veteran in carpet production and workshop management, Qom Province

Recognized as the largest specialized event in this field, the 33rd Iran Handwoven Carpet Exhibition brings together leading producers, exporters, designers and artists from across the country. The exhibition showcases the latest works created through Iran’s rich tradition of handwoven carpet craftsmanship.
